INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Sear the Chicken
Pat the chicken dry and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear the chicken skin-side down for 4-5 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
Remove the chicken and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Gravy
In the same skillet, sauté onions and garlic until soft.
Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Slowly pour in chicken broth while whisking to prevent lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce (if using) and simmer until thickened.
Step 3: Combine and Cook
Return the chicken to the pan, cover, and simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes until fully cooked.
Stir in heavy cream for extra richness.
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
NOTES
Tips for the Best Chicken and Gravy
Use
bone-in, skin-on chicken
for the best flavor.
If the gravy is too thick, add more broth. If it’s too thin, let it simmer longer.
For extra depth,
deglaze the pan
with a splash of white wine before adding the broth.
Pair with mashed potatoes, biscuits, or rice for a complete meal.
